- Description/Excerpt: At least 75 full-time state government employees made more than double their base salary last year, much of it by working overtime, according to an analysis of state records by The Tennessean.
A handful of state workers made three times their base pay. Scores of other employees racked up extra pay equal to 50% and 75% above their base pay through overtime and other salary supplements.
The analysis suggests there are plenty of state workers putting in extra hours. Their overtime will cost more this coming year because the state budget approved by the legislature late last month included a 3 percent raise for all state employees.
