- Description/Excerpt: Sex offenders would be relegated to living in some of Tampa's most affluent neighborhoods under a proposal backed by some city council members.
The proposal essentially banishes some sexual offenders and sexual predators from living in most other neighborhoods in the city, including all of east Tampa and West Tampa, according to a Tampa Tribune analysis. Instead, Councilman Shawn Harrison's plan to bar sex offenders from living within 2,500 feet of schools, parks and day care centers would leave just a few neighborhoods in which sex offenders could look for housing.
