- Description/Excerpt: A News 2 investigation found, in Charleston County, it often takes longer than eight minutes for help to arrive.
With the help of a College of Charleston database expert, we looked at nearly 70,000 EMS response time records, provided by the county, from 2005 to May, 2007. We only looked at emergency calls when the county’s ambulances responded with lights and sirens.
We discovered only three out of ten 911 calls received an EMS ambulance quicker than eight minutes. Our investigation also shows taxpayers waited an average 10 minutes, 31 seconds for help.
